192 NOT OUT!
Present at the Club’s Ruby Anniversary were Don White and Rose Simpson, both of whom are sprightly 96-year-olds!
Don is a founder member of the bowling club and helped Syd Kennerley build the green in the early 1980s. He has also voluntarily helped maintain the green since this time. No mean bowler, Don, for nearly forty years has been an outstanding team member for Mottram. He still bowls, and bowls well. Each Wednesday morning he can be seen still giving bowling lessons to kid brother Stuart and young sister Beryl.
Don is always calm, quiet and unassuming, but always there to support the club. A true gentleman! No wonder he is known as “The Don of the Green.”
Thank you so much Don!
Rose is a longstanding member of the Mottram Club. She has graced the green with her formidable bowling skills for many years. Rose is still a very good bowler and her performance in a recent Club Sunday competition was described as
‘brilliant’. She also reached the quarter finals of the Club Handicap Competition. Amazing!
Rose has a lovely endearing persona and enjoys the affection of all members.
Thank you, our own English Rose!
