It is with much sadness that we have to inform you that Rose Simpson passed away last week. She would have been 97 on 11 June. Rose, along with her late husband Ken, were founding members of the club. During her 40 years at the club, she enjoyed fierce league bowling and would often win competitions and matches. She was part of the WI team who won the Cheshire Championships representing Mottram in 1996. More recently, she was a demon to be reckoned with on her own green, winning many of our Sunday competitions.

Rose was a true lady who immersed herself into family and village life. She never ceased to amaze us with her abilities – nothing seemed to phase her – still driving in her 90s and taking charge of her own email and Facebook accounts. We know she had a supportive family network and our thoughts go to all of them at this sad time. She will be sorely missed by her many friends at the club and the wider village community.
